Vana Beginin came to the United States from the former Yugoslavia in her early teens. She received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Education from Wayne State University. Ms. Beginin has taught Art Education Bilingual Education and  English as a Second Language (ESL) for the Detroit and Wayne County Schools and for Wayne County and Oakland Community Colleges. She has also participated in presentation of art and language seminars and workshops for Eastern Michigan University and the Flint Schools.

Beginin has been exhibiting her art work - both paintings and drawings - since 1980 and received several prestigious awards.

Her portraits, paintings, and drawings are also in several private collections. Ms.
Beginin presently resides in Birmingham, where she actively paints in oils and acrylics and does pencil and charcoal drawings. Her subjects are people, including portraits, landscapes, water and boats, and combinations of all of these.
