Small but Mighty
August 31 - October 4, 2019, juried by Vianna Szabo
Thank you for the honor of jurying your small case show. I enjoyed the diverse entries of the group and was impressed by the quality.
It was difficult to chose the winners and I appreciate being able to add on an extra Honorable Mention.
1st Place - This painting struck me right away as a tour-de-force that dances between abstract & realism. The confident paint application speaks of the joy of the artist while painting it. (Carol LaChiusa, A Garden Pond)
2nd Place - Beautifully drawn portrait in muted tones that captures a gesture. The line work in the hair & features play beautifully against the softly modeled forms in the skin. (Laura Mocnik, A Woman)
3rd Place - This delightful landscape dances with colors that are layered. Aspects of this painting are both flat & dimensional giving it interest from a distance & close up. (Lori Zurvalec, Maybe Peace in Eden)
Honorable Mention - Stunning design & delicate shapes pull the viewer's eye around the composition. (Nobuko Yamasaki, Spring Flight) Honorable Mention - This little gem is a powerful little landscape of a simple scene. The thick paint application adds intrigue to the composition. (Linda Boyle, A Little Something)
