President’s Message

Summer 2021

“Spring being a tough act to follow, God created June, and the rest of the Summer.”

I want to congratulate all of the wonderful women who are Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors members for being both courageous and steadfast in their participation. As our 2020-2021 year comes to a close, we can look back with pride on what we have been able to accomplish this year. We have given a scholarship, and provided exhibitions for members to show their work. We have collaborated with women from other arts organizations through Empowering Women Artists, EWA, which brought us fascinating speakers and hearty discussions. We have kept a safe social distance with zoom meetings during the worst parts of the pandemic, and had energetic and enthusiastic meetings in person when we were able to. We have had to be patient with the difficult and unavoidable situations, and we have risen to the occasion to work together.

Thank you for continuing to be a part of DSWPS, a modern organization with historic roots. Just a reminder, for those who need it, that it’s time to renew your membership

DSWPS is a community of Women Artists who listen to one another, support one another, and provide a platform from which to show our greatness.
