Lynn Edwards Newman

I have lived in Michigan my entire life, received my BFA from MSU and my M.ED from Wayne State in Art Therapy. I can’t remember art not being a part of my life, expressing my happiest and saddest times. Over the years I have taught art, facilitated private and group art therapy, sculpted and painted and crafted. My work has been seen in juried shows, galleries and private collections throughout the United States, as well as some paintings in Europe and Canada. I have etched and painted many functional pieces, wholesaling to retail stores and galleries.

Facilitating creativity workshops and fostering creativity in others guided me to further develop my work and my love for oil and pastel painting and mixed media. I explore realism, abstraction and non-objective compositions to continuously develop, experiment, play and learn. Art is a powerful way to create an environment that expresses individuality, stimulates the imagination and build connections with others.

Creating is an intregral part of who I am. It is the essence of my life’s philosophy manifesting throughout my daily life, as well as through my art. Painting provides the opportunity to explore, push beyond fears and limits, accept mistakes and build from them. The visual arts have always been a means of self-expression. I hope you take the time to look and reflect and enjoy your experience.
