Julianna Sanroman Rojas

Julianna Sanroman Rojas is the winner of the 2021 - 2022 DSWPS annual scholarship awarded to a female art student working toward a degree in an accredited Detroit-area college. (For scholarship details for 2021 - 2022, please click here.)

She is a Southwest Detroit native raised in Metro Detroit and Jalisco, Mexico. She is a multi-media student, artist, and educator who will receive her BFA and teaching certificate from College for Creative Studies.

Through her work, she interrogates the idea of recognizing former aspects of our lives as we enter and exit our old selves like homes. She uses traditional narrative to challenge her past and re-imagine her future - expanding on her experiences with immigration, heartbreak, and transitions.
