Minutes of Annual Meeting - May 16, 2019 -Scarab Club

Meeting called to order by Joan Smykowski, President, at 10:00 am, with the statement, “It’s been a wonderful year!”

Minutes of the 2018 Annual Meeting held on September 22, 2018 at the Annex Gallery, 333 Midland, Highland Park, were read. Jackie Rybinski moved that the minutes be accepted as read, seconded by Katy McNamee, motion approved.

Annual Report of the Recording Secretary: No report

Annual Report of the Corresponding Secretary read by Joyce Manke, motion to accept by Katy McNamee, seconded by Isabelle Goosen, motion approved.

Annual Report of the Treasurer will be presented at the September 2019 general membership meeting as per the By-laws.

Exhibition Report read by Erica Chappuis, motion to accept by Julie Sabit, seconded by Marilyn Bomarito, motion approved.

Membership Report: written report submitted by Jan Ducsay, current membership 155, motion to accept by Kim Santini, Jan Brown seconded, motion approved.

Scholarship Report read by Marilyn Bomarito. 2019 Scholarship to CCS student Victoria Demetrious, motion to accept by Carole Morisseau, seconded by Deborah Benedic, motion approved.

Finance: No report

By-laws and Policy Report: written report submitted by Kathleen O’Connell, proposed revisions to the Constitution and By-laws were read. Discussion ensued regarding the proposal to combine the President-Elect and Immediate Past President positions into one position. Motion to accept the revised Constitution, By-laws and Rules as proposed with an exception as to Constitution, Article IV, section I, Officers (Executive Board) Immediate Past President and President-Elect, by Mary Hartman, seconded by Mary Walker, motion approved. Motion to maintain Immediate Past President and President-Elect as separate positions on the Executive Board by Mary Hartman, seconded by Joya Rush-Keli, motion approved.

Memorials Report read by Jean Thomas, motion to accept by Carolyn Sherwood, seconded by Katy McNamee, motion approved.

Website Report read by Katy McNamee. Total annual cost of website $330, motion to accept by Erica Chappuis, seconded by Kim Santini, motion approved. Discussion as to newly created members only page on website, password provided.

Historian Report read by Julie Sabit. Documents will be delivered to the Burton Historical Collection in September, motion to accept by Marilyn Bomarito, seconded by Marie Brow.

Honorary memberships: in accordance with By-laws Article II, honorary memberships were proposed by members of DSWPS for Carol LaChiusa and Bette Prudden, the Executive board recommended to the membership that these honorary memberships be bestowed. The members present approved the recommendations unanimously. Carol and Bette were presented with certificates, corsages, and a heartfelt round of applause.
