Bio Vana Beginin came to the United States from former Yugoslavia in her early teens. She received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Education, from Wayne State University. Ms. Beginin has taught Art Education, Bilingual Education, and ESL (English as a Second Language) for Detroit and Wayne County Schools and for Wayne County and Oakland Community Colleges. She has also participated in presentation of art and language seminars and workshops for Eastern Michigan and Flint Schools. Vana Beginin has been exhibiting her art work, paintings and drawings, since 1980 is and received several prestigious awards. The following are some of the juried art exhibits in which she has participated: Our Town 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. The Scarb Club (Annual Water Color Exhibitions, Silver Medal Exhibits, Landscapes and Seascapes, Global Expressions) U.of M. Dearborn All-Michigan Open Competitions 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 Birmingham-Bloomfield Fine Arts Competition 2002, 2005, 2006 Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors - all exhibits since 2000. Her portraits, paintings, and drawings are also in several private collections. Ms. Beginin presently resides in Birmingham,where she actively paints in oils and acrylics and does pencil and charcoal drawings. Her subjects are people, portraits, landscapes, water/boats, and combinations of all of these. |
